Asylum boat intercepted near Christmas Island

Home Affairs Minister, in a statement reported the arrival of an asylum seeker boat. The boat has sought assistance on Sunday and were being rendered assistance by HMAS Warramunga, operating under the coordination of the Australian Maritime Safety Authority’s Rescue Coordination Centre.

IInitial indications suggests there are 65 passengers and four crew on board.

They all will be transferred to Christmas Island now.
