A BOAT carrying 117 suspected asylum seekers has been found at the Cocos (Keeling) Islands.

The vessel was first noticed by an RAAF maritime patrol aircraft before it reached the area yesterday afternoon.

Home Affairs Minister Jason Clare says they’re expected to be transferred to the Christmas Island detention facility where they’ll undergo initial security, health and identity checks.
